If you want to bake to impress, this is the cake for you! It takes a while to bake it, but each element is easy, so if you have the patience, this cake will be your new favourite. Sweet, but the bitter chocolate makes it a great combination. A delicious cake for both kids and grown-ups! I recommend to read through the recipe before you begin, so you can plan your time!
Because this recipe is so long, I decided to write the whole thing in english, so it`s easier to follow. If you want it in norwegian, you can find that version here.
I love brownies! Those of you who follow me on sosial media knows that I am weak for a sticky brownie! I wanted to do something new with it, and thought of foam cake. Why not combine? And why not make the brownie a fun surprice in the middle! I loved the idea. Hope you do too, and here`s the recipe.
100 grams of butter
250 grams of sugar
1,5 dl flour
2 ss coacoa
1 ts vanilla extract
2 ss coffee
Whip the butter and sugar to a white buttercream.
Whip each egg into the buttercream, one at a time.
Mix all the dry ingredients together and have them in the batter with the coffee.
Use a cakepan about 20 cm.
Bake it in the middle of the oven at 356 degrees fahrenheit, for about 25-30 minutes. Dont overbake it.
Cool down and leave it cold while you make the foam batter.
When the cake sinks down, you know you did something right!
3 dl sugar
1 ts vanillaextract
6 plates of gelatin
1 dl boiling water
First, leave the gelatin plates in cold water for 10 minutes, so they are nice and soft.
Whip the egg whites untill they are foamy.
Pour 1 tablespoon of sugar, at a time, into the foam untill you have a stiff meringue. Watch the video.
Leave the mashine while you melt the gelatine plates in 1 dl of boiling water
Leav it to cool a bit. Pour it in a thickle while the mashine is at full speed.
Whip it for about 25 minutes. The batter will be smooth and thick.
Take out your cold brownie, and put it directly on a cake platter.
Find a cake ring that is a little bigger than the brownie.
Cover the cake ring with baking sheet.
Pour the batter over the brownie, and make sure that you get it down the sides of the brownie. You want the whole cake covered so that you dont spoil the surprise.
Try to make it as even as you can on top. Got a tip to use a warm spatula, so I`m going to try that next time. Leave it to set for atleast 6 hours or over night!
When the cake has set, take off the cake ring and remove the baking sheets.
I have chosen to decorate the cake with chocolate and strawberries, and I want the chocolate down the sides. Use the chocolate you like best, recipe under.
PS: if you want the chocolate to be perfect in place on the top of the cake, pour it over while you have the cake ring still on.
ca 100-150 grams of chocolate.
1 ss coffee
2 ss butter
Melt together the ingrediets over hot water.
Use a spatula to even the cream out smooth over the cake.
I dip the strawberries in the chocolate before I place them on the cake.
Leave the cake cold, and the chocolate will set.
Then the cake is ready to eat. At first it looks like an ordinary foam cake, but when you cut into it, the brownie reveals, and its a fun surprise. Fabolous!
To make the cake slice pretty I use a hot sharp knife that I dip in hot water for each cut. It gets very sticky!
YUM! I didn`t expect the cake to disappear is one day, but it did! This is a big cake, but when people want more, they get it! Very happy with the result!
I love this cake, and I hope it becomes your favorite too!
